LUIS ENRIQUE GUTIERREZ
Clay sculptures and ceramics
I am heir to the native pottery tradition of San Juan de Oriente, a town of artisans in Nicaragua. I grew up surrounded by vessels with impressive strokes and colors masterfully created by family, friends and the great masters. I learned from Helio Gutiérrez, a master of contemporary Nicaraguan ceramics.
My work refers to the indigenous, the native, the ancestral, living nature, geometry and textures. It makes me happy to know that my work is collected in various countries around the world.
For five years I have lived in the United States, the country where I work and exhibit my pieces in public and private events.
